In my opinion, William Blake was a very intelligent and religious man. These poems made me take a long hard look at the world that we live in now, compared to the world when he was alive. These poems have a very deep meaning. I had to read them several times and mediate in order to try to understand what he was getting at. I'm still not sure about all of them, but I think I may know what he was meaning in a couple of them. If you take a step back and look outside the box, these poems have just as much meaning in our society today as did back then. All I can say is these poems are awesome.
I'm glad you found his poems so thought-provoking. I agree with your point that his poems have just as much significance for our times as they did for his. Were you able to make it to Dr. Jones's lecture? I didn't get to go (had a class) but I was lucky enough to take 3 classes with him and he taught me everything I know about Blake (which isn't a whole lot but it's enough to make me appreciate his genius).
